Default Heartbroken...

Hello Everbody, I am in need of some advice from fellow s2k owners. I had what was to be a fun day at the track turn into a disaster. A long story short my check engine light came on and I decided to stop track activities and get the car home. 20 miles from the track the engine quit and had to have it towed to the local dealership. I have owned my baby 4 years and it has never missed a beat has always run like a top. In agony I waited Monday morning for the call at noon nothing, and finally at 4pm my phone rang, "has anyone ever done a valve adjustment on this?" The service writer asked. At that point my heart sank into my stomach and I knew the the news was not good. All of the cam retainers had broken. I'm am left with tears and sadness it will never be the same again what do I do now?

Do the usual and get her running again so you can keep enjoying the car. Once the mechanical bits are sorted out it will be as good as new.

Am I wrong here, but that doesn't sound too bad? At first I read "valve retainers" and that would be catastrophic but Cam retainers? Simple replace, and maybe new Cams?

Help me out here.

Cam retainers = journals. That means machining...which it's usually easier to replace the head. This usually only happens from oil loss.....which could mean it's far worse on other bearings/journals in the motor.

But I think he meant valve retainers.

It is impossible to tell what is wrong with this car from the op's report. Sure looks like a nice car though.
