Has anyone tried installing a sunroof in an S2000 hardtop?

You know what you should do......Targa top it. That could not be too hard. And about the sun roof, you can do anything......if you have the cash$.

Targa top sounds like a really good idea. I love drop tops, but at times crimes/looks persuade me to go with a hardtop, but than you compromise "funness" in the car..like Mindcore said..."best of both worlds"...

I saw a E36 M3 convertible with hardtop that has a custom made sunroof before.

Ok now that would be totally pointless since the M3 is offered as a coupe with a sunroof option, which is much cheaper and the overall rigidity is still much better on the coupe.

Since the S2000 isn't offered as a coupe, it makes more sense for this car to install a sunroof in the hardtop to make it a psuedo coupe. Heck, if I had that option, I'd remove the soft top completely to offset the extra weight of the sunroof mechanism. But eh, I like it as a convertible just fine..

But still, you're missing the point. The MB panarama roof comes from the factory that way, as an option. It doesn't require any intricate fabrication and tons of $$$ to do. Seems pointless on the M3 because first, you're adding weight, second, you're adding $$$ to get it done, and third, the M3 is already expensive as a convertible and adding a hardtop that is customized as a panarama roof just adds to the cost. By that time, you can have the MB panarama roof and still have change. Heck, even converting the M3 coupe to a panarama roof would make more sense as it retains more rigidity and probably incurs less weight while keeping the total cost down. I know it's still not a convertible, but the M3 is best in coupe form anyhow. Not worth the extra 10k premium to make it a heavier and less rigid convertible.

Just my opinion.
