Has anyone traded in a relatively new S for a CR?
Hi. I was down at my Honda dealer the other day getting some work done on my 2006 S2000. It only has 19,700 mi. On the lot, there was a brand new, never driven Berlina Black CR. It has the factory installed ac/audio options.
I spoke to the sales manager and he is willing to sell the car for $900 above invoice plus $399 documentation fees plus $635 destination charges for a total of $35,700 before taxes. Is this pretty good deal? I would have to trade in my S for this CR and I have not negotiated a price for it yet.
Of course I have scoured all the magazine reviews of the CR and there is a common theme: "unless you take the CR to the track, you will not notice a difference." I don't plan on taking the CR to the track, but am still intrigued by the beautiful appearance, the improved handling, the improved shifting, and all the aesthetic touches of the interior and exterior.
Have any members traded in their relatively new S2000's for a CR? Do you notice a difference in handling on the street during everyday use? Is the CR a significantly improved version of the S2000?
I guess seeing a brand new, undriven, all plastic wrapped Berlina CR has given me new car fever.

Thanks for the link, Mother. $32,000 is at least $1,000 below the invoice listed at Edmunds. I didn't know you could buy a CR for below invoice, as much as that much below.

Heck, if you have been bitten by the bug, go for it. You know it will be hard to resist at this point! I know as soon as I get the bug, I'm a goner.
The thing is, $900 over invoice is no favor. You should be able to go at least $600-700 below invoice. So maybe press them a bit on price.
My only reservation about the CR would be the practicality of not having a soft top here in Virginia. It would severely limit my ability to drive the car topless too far from home. So when I was deciding what to do with my 05 coming off lease in June, I ended up going for a regular 08 S2K and then buying a hard top. Time will tell if that was the right way to go.
Other than the soft top question, I think the CR is pretty cool and is a fine choice, even if you never track it. Good luck!
