depends on whether your car was "built" with the installation kit already on it or not.
if not, typically a couple of hours if you have the right tools by your side.
regards and enjoy.

I'm uncertain, but I think I remember the Honda dealer saying that the 'flat rate' for the installation of the hardtop was four hours. I do remember the dealer telling me that as my hardtop was the first one they'd installed and that it took them longer than the official flat rate predicted.
Based on comments viewed in other threads on this list, I'd recommend paying close attention to the installation of the wiring in the console area. It seems that some installations have interfered with cup holder operation. Otherwise, I haven't seen or heard that many complaints.

It's really not that bad if you are mechanically inclined. You pop out a few panels, put in some wiring, swap out the striker plates above the windshield, and install the pin catchers on each side behind the seats. Take your time, and use some care, and you can have it done in a few hours. When installing the wiring behind the drivers seat, I routed the harness behind the metal ribs (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it). The instructions show it in front, and covered by the plastic corner trim, but the trim won't go on with the harness in front.
Loosen the four (or 5) bolts on each side of the top before you install it, and above all get a friend to help you put the top on. Yeah, it only weighs about 40 pounds, but it can easily be dropped or bumped.
If you don't have the instructions, H and A Honda's website has them where you order the roof. Print a copy and study it before you start. Read it at least twice. http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000.html

yeah i felt i was mechanically inclined enough to do the job, as well, but in the end i paid the dealer (less time required for certain '02's, but that's a different thread) to do it so that it was covered under the vehicle's full warranty. it was worth the couple hundred bucks to cover a $3000 hardtop.
