Hardtop Safety?

No kidding its scary. They were removing the remains when I drove by. Certainly makes one pause to reflect on the impermanance of life. One second you are driving your Camry down the highway, the next minute you are food for worms.
Of course, as S2000 drivers, we are immortal. Knock on wood.

My guess would be that the OEM version is as safe as the soft top.
Safety in a roll-over was one of the least selling points I considered.

Here is my opinion.. which is worth very little as I am not an engineer.
Any aftermarket Fibergalss hardtop is going to splinter. I imagine the attachment points will still be there after a roll over, but little else.
Any aftermarket Carbon Fiber hardtop will probably hold up a little better than fiberglass, but will still splinter and be virtually worthless.
The OEM aluminum Hardtop, while not being able to withstand the load of the car might stay in one piece (not splinter like composites). While it will still crumple to the roll hoops, it probably will stay in one piece over your head and might keep foreign objects from coming into the cabin.
All this is pure speculation from someone with no experience in this field
