Hardtop Rattling?

It's funny because the noise isn't so obnoxious that I still hear it while the radio is playing, but it's bad enough that if I just wanna go for a cruise I HEAR EVERYTHING!

Well yesterday was the first day on the forum. There seems to be alot of people with the same hardtop rattling and creaking problems. Spent the majority of the day looking up solutions. There's a wealth of information here on the subject, and felt good that I'm not the only 1 with the problem. Today, I'm going to try some of these solutions to see if it can be resolved. In the meantime, I've started a case with American Honda. They will be sending out a specialist to see if anything can be done. I was wondering if anyone knows of an independent who can address the rattling in the Huntington Beach, CA. area? Any leads will be helpful.

They might be the soft top latches. Those are the biggest culprits of rattles NOT having to do with mis-installation. I would just get some zip ties, and zip tie the moving part of the latch down(like it would be in a locked position, so it would move when you go over bumps. That piece moves back and forth freely, often times causing very annoying rattles. You can use other methods to tie it down: string, velcro straps, or the like, but zip ties are cheap, and easy to slide under the latch and around. That was the easiest solution for me.
Also make sure you have all the seals lubed with Shin Etsu grease.
If the rattling is not coming from the front(strikers) than more than likely its the soft top latches(even though they are in the locked position, the little hook that is free, stands up and is moveable, when you go over bumps, this swings back and forth, causing the rattles. Zip tie that down and you should be good.
And use the search. There is a plethora of threads on this.

I had the same rattles as described by others. The rattle from behind was caused by the soft top latches. I keep mine closed when the top is down. They feel tight to the touch but those suckers do rattle. I never hear it with the top down, but put the hard top on and I hear it. I stopped the rattle by placing felt pads, about the size of a dime, inside the latch. The felt causes a tight fit and will stop the rattle. I had rattles in the front as well. It was more like popping noises. That was caused by loose strikers. Loctite on the stricker screws fixed that.
