Hardtop Rattling?
anyone else have a hardtop that gives a nice rattle when you go over bumps? mine would rattle right behind my head initially, and now i hear it on both sides of the hardtop - noise does not exist when hardtop is off and soft top is either up or down. only happens when hardtop is on. anyone?

I had some rattling on the passenger side once, it was from the striker not being tight. I had to remove the plastic from the around the windshield and tighten the 2 screws. Had this happen twice so far, next time some loctite is going there.

One more thing (don't ask how I know ) is to make sure the latches on the soft top are locked in the closed position. Took me a while to figure this one out, but the installer at Honda didn't lock the latches closed and it rattled for a while before I could figure out what was wrong.

note: these rattles are most definitely coming from behind me, so it's not the strikers; besides, they've been adjusted already. this almost sounds like the softtop - it's back in that area... but as you can imagine, it's kind of tough to feel around back there while you're driving. the ONLY way it could be the strikers is if you consider the fact that they're not very tight when the whole thing is latched up. they lock, they close, but they don't seem to do a heck of a lot. but i still believe firmly that the rattle is behind me.

Yup, I have a rattle coming from the back on my '06. I also have a slight misalignment on the driverside where the bottom of the hardtop meets up with the weather seal right behind the driver. Is there something that can be done?

A small strip of felt tape placed on the strike plate has solved my problems. If that doesn't work, get some Shin Etsu grease from your local Honda dealer and lube up all the seals.
I have actually had both of the screws holding one of the strike plates on completely fall out. The screws were sitting in the plastic trim piece going around the windshield. Lets just say those suckers are Loctited in now so that never happends again.
