Default Hardtop Questions

I am thinking about purchasing a hardtop (OEM from Honda) for my 02 S2k, but would like to get some input from those who have purchased and installed a hardtop already. Here are my ?'s

How difficult is it to install?

How difficult is it to remove?

What is the best dealer to buy from?

(I have been speaking to Scottsdale Honda, they offer tops for $2,600 w/mounting kit and $200 for shipping)

Anything else I may need to know before I buy?

Thanks for any and all input.

Installation is a bear the first time. Almost bent the whole thing. Once you've figured it out, it's very easy. Drops in place then four latches and a plug for the defroster. It's actually easier to install than the tonneau cover.

Removal is easy. Reversal of above. Both are two person jobs.

I bought mine at the dealer...Hendrick Honda in Easley, SC. Haggled a bit but paid too much.

$2600 is about right.

Check out the Arizona section:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=32

Ask your question there for more information.

1. It is very easy to install and can be done in about an hour.

2. Taking it off takes about 15 seconds. You just release 4 latches.

3. Speak with Flagstaff Honda and then talk to Earnhardt Honda in Arizona for the best price.

4. Best purchase I have made for the S2k!

Installation is easy. I dont know about 02's but I had to use a center punch to knock in some metal so the striker would align correctly. That was just a pain in the ass.

Yeah check out Flagstaff Honda in AZ. I got a quote from them and asked my local dealership to price match. $2600 w/o hardware + $200 shipping is a bit expensive. About a month ago I think Flagstaff was going for $2800 which includes shipping and hardware.

I had mine installed at the dealership, so I don't know about the time to install. I used the XVIPER designed pulley system for putting it on and taking it off. I can do both in a couple of minutes by myself. I have not checked prices recently, but hardtopguy used to be one of the best...
