1Y2KS2K: this is not completely correct. For topspeed: aerodynamics and HP is everything, weight is not important. I haven't checked it whith my S2000, but my previous Alfa Romeo Spider had about 10 miles higher topspeed with hardtop on. I even seem to remember that the infamous TurboDave videos were with hardtop on (topspeed 281KMH). On the toher hand for acceleration weight is a factor, but 44lb is not much, better try to drive with an almost empty gastank then.

Don't expect that better aerodynamics = more speed.

1Y2KS2K Thanks for finding this photo and posting it. Why do you think it is so hard to find a red hardtop??? I could not be happier with my red and from the photo the hardtop just adds another great look to it.

I've been thinking about the hard top as well even here in socal. It makes it into a totally different car - I like the different look it creates. And I would go honda, just because of the paint matching issues I have heard of with the s2000.

As far as storage, performance bicycles makes an interesting hoist storage system for bikes in your garage that looks like it could be modified to store the s2000 hardtop. I have not bought it to try it and I know some members custom made very nice hoist systems, but maybe this could work with minor modifications??

RTS. A while back, when I ordered the HT from MG Racing, I mistakenly received a red hardtop for my white S2K. Before returning it to MG, I checked out what it would look like by placing the HT in position on the car. I have to admit, if the whole car was red to match the HT, it would have looked really gorgeous. (At the time, I almost [but not quite] wished my car was red instead of white! )

Ronald: Thanks for the insight. I bow to superior knowledge of aerodynamic!

What do you mean almost, surely you did wish it was red!!!

It sounds like you were able to return your top, since if not we could surely strike a deal. By the way was it a factory top you received from MG Racing???

The hard top really changes the look of the car.
I actually think it looks great.
Not too keen on the Mugen one though.

if you need it - get it!!!

if you can afford it - get it!!!

if weather dictates it - get it!!!

if the above three don't apply - get it anyway!!!!!!!!!

it will change the look of the car and YOUR comfort IN the car.

my car FEELS a lot tighter and it's WAY quieter with the factory H/T on.

I really don't know what came over me. I must have had a brain seizure at the time, which made me . How could I possibly imagine having an inferior red S2K to replace my beloved superior white? I am so embarrased ().

Too bad about the top, always looking for a deal!!

Obviously kidding about color, in fact I saw my first and only white one 2 weekends ago on my way to an SCCA autocross event at Miller Park. (I did not enter but plan to next year.) BTW the white looked way cool as they all do!!!

Ok already I'm sold.
How about a Black HT on a Silverstone or Red? ala NSX!
