Default Hardtop

Does the installation of the hardtop cause any problems operating the ragtop?
Are there any other ways to deaden sound without going to the hardtop?
Does anyone make a hardtop other than Honda?

Any ideas would be much appreciated. I just got a 2000 Gran Prix White S2000 with red interior. I do a lot of highway driving and the noise can be bothersome at highway speeds.

Once the hardtop is on, the soft-top is non-operational, until the hardtop is taken off again. The hardtop is a 2-person job unless you have a hoist setup in the garage.

I think there is a company who makes a liner for the soft-top. I don't know who but I suspect if you post this question several people here will know. I'm not sure how much this might cut down on the noise though.

Mugen makes a hardtop that is not like the OEM design. In my opinion the OEM hardtop is a much better item. The Honda top is made out of aluminum, looks beautiful on the inside and has a real glass rear window and a built in defroster, and it looks great!

I really believe there is more!
Also- when I have my helmet on in the soft-top I bang my helmet on one of the folding hinges. When the hard-top is on I don't bump my head in that spot nearly as much and when I do, it is a soft hit NOT a crack to the helmet!

I got mine when I ordered the car, you can buy one by going to see the parts department at you local Honda dealer.

My price was $2,495. At the time the MSRP was $2,995, but I found out about a $500 Honda Rebate last year and my dealer gave it to me. Do some searching on this forum, there were several threads a couple weeks ago about how the Honda dealers were making deals because they have not sold as many as they wanted to.

Be aware there may be a $100 shipping charge if ordered through the parts department, that is up to the individual dealer. Also be aware there is an installation fee if you decide not to do all the work yourself. The first time the top is added to the car all the adjustments need to be made. Normally it takes me a couple of minutes to change the top with another person there to help. But the first installation takes some work. Again regarding details on this try a search. I did not pay the $100 fee and I got my installation for free because I made that part of the new car purchase deal.

Can you tell me about the noise level? Is it quieter or louder or the same?
