Default hardtop

Alright I love how my oe hardtop looks and fits for like the first month everything was cherry but after a while things got worse and worse. It rattled like no other and found the strikers were loose lock tite and elbow grease fixed that than it came back (the rattling) the latches on the hard top were loose lock tutr and tightened them down again. Than again more rattling, side catchers loose lock tite again. Now the sob creaks and there's less wind noise with soft too than with the hard too. So I'm trying to trace the problem down I already greased everything now what? Anyone else have any of these issues

buying an oe hardtop is the best thing u can do..this is the first time ive ever heard of such a problem...wind noise being increased is a given b/c the top is not seated correctly...u need to find out why the catchers keep coming loose...that sounds like the prob...yes u used loctite and if it came loose im wondering if the bolt hole is stripped clean..idk man your prob is a first that i know of

I've NEVER heard of this problem. Maybe you can try getting new strikers.

I didn't have to adjust anything as far as the strikers when I installed my hardtop. Everything slapped on and worked perfectly.

If you used Lock tite on the latches I hope it was not Red or Green??? Those are wear and tear items and they do not last forever. Red and Green loc tite will mean if they go bad you will have to drill them out .

I have a hardtop that was loc tited and it is pissing me off cuz I am trying to replace the latches and I cant get them off

Every car I have been in with a HT makes some noise some are worse than other mine is farely quiet (chirps from time to time and creaks going up drive ways) With CF/FRP it is usaully worse.

It does not bother me that much and def not enough to go back to the soft top. I plan on gutting the softop and plan to never go back

My hard top really squeaked and rattled after installation. A little EPT Sealant (kind of like weather stripping), some Shin Etsu lube on all the rubber, and two plastic cable ties managed to take care of all the unwanted noise. (The cable ties hold down the little hooks from each of the soft top latches; even though the soft top is retracted, the little hooks still slide back and forth and rattle... they caused the most noise.)

If your hard top is noisy, you may wish to check out the following threads:
