I have my hardtop on now and plan to use it in the summer as well. Where I have to park at work there's no shade, with summer temperatures reaching the upper 90s and humidity to match, I think it will be much more comfortable to turn on the A/C than to put the top down. Also the silver paint on the hardtop should reflect some of the heat better than the black softtop keeping the inside temperature lower. On the other hand I will probably remove it for weekend cruises to the beach when I can wear shorts and a T-shirt. I am also with those who think the car looks better with the hardtop on (see pic below). If it had been offered as a coupe I would have preferred it that way.
P.S. I can't resist the temptation to put this pic in whenever I get the chance.

I have to remove my hardtop every time that the weather gets over 70 degrees. Probably will put it back on during the 100 degree days if I plan on driving a good ways.

Personally, I like the looks of the hardtop - I've had mine on for a few weeks now, but the weather is starting to dry out. I usually have the hardtop off when the weather is nice during summer/spring/fall. But, if the forecast looks like extended rain, or if temps get too high, I'll put the hardtop back on for temp. control. silver reflects heat a lot better than the black softtop. hehe. In any case, it's a matter of personal preference. I like the hardtop because it makes for a true convertible (topless, softtop, hardtop) and I take it off, put it on as I feel. Yes, it takes two people to put on /take off but it's only like a min or two each way....

I do not have a hard top. That said: I know somebody that will put it on for 1 reason TO RUN TRACK DAYS! He can get by without a aftermarket roll bar.........though being 6'2" I doubt any roll bar would get him by the broom stick test!

I've been trying to get the numbers to work to afford a hard top for a while. Being unemployed is not helping. The reason? Texas summers. When you have 100+ degrees for 40+ days in a row (happened two years in a row here), you don't drop the top much unless you're a masochist (or one of those wierdos who aren't affected by the heat). To me that would make for perfect hardtop weather. A little better insulation (I think, every bit helps when cooling the car), far superior rearward visibility, and a different look for 3-6 months out of the year. And I'd probably put it on for the 1 month of colder weather (below 50 degrees) too. But the rest of the year, you never know when the conditions are right to drop the top Two days ago it was 70+ degrees and the top went down. Today, no higher than about 45, top stayed up =)
