I find it funny that people without hardtops are responding to this thread. The question asked is:
Do any of you keep the hard top on during the summer? I think it looks nicer with the hard top on? Anyone else?

...... But the "little voice" in your head kept telling you maybe the author didn't really mean it?

Oh yeah, I don't usually leave the HT on during the warm months unless I'm taking a long highway trip where the weather is forecast to be crap where I'm going. And I can put on and take off the top by myself so this is not the issue. But I do agree that the car looks much nicer with it on.

I'm not trying to piss you or anyone else off, but the original poster already bought the hardtop, as myself and many others did. I don't understand how it makes sense to post that the car is meant to be a convertible and therefore the hardtop should not have been purchased in the first place. All I'm saying is that people with hardtops post their experiences and what they do as suggested by the original post.

If the S2000 was offered in a coupe i would have gotten it, i have the hardtop and yes i am one of the few that thinks the hardtop looks better on the car than with the top down, i live in PA and my hardtop stays on for 8 months out of the year i take it off for the months of June-September pretty much just to let the softtop breath a little.

I might be doing this when I get my hard top.

I was seriously considering having the entire convertible top mechanism taken out and permanently mounting the hard top. A few reasons: 1) There's a lot of weight there and I think there would be a net loss even when the HT is mounted, 2) I think it would look cool, 3) I could have a proper roll bar fabricated.

BUT - Putting the top down is really, really nice. And more importantly my wife would kill me.

I was thinking the same thing hiroprotaganist how much weight does the softtop consist of, even if you did this you could still take the hartop off and cruise around topless if you wanted to, just don't get caught in rain. Although i do like all my options, what do i wanna be today a hardtop, a softop, or topless

I doubt if anyone keeps the hardtop on all through the summer, but it sure is nice to have it on when you're driving round Palm Springs, where the temperature can get up to a toasty 122F for days on end. You'd be a fool not to put the hartop on in that kind of weather. It's no big deal putting it on or taking it off when it suits you. It only takes about a minute.

ace039: To answer your question PRECISELY......No, I don't KEEP it on through the summer. I put it on selectively!
