Someone is selling some bulbs similar to this on eBay right now. I was curious if anyone had tried them too.

I used these once. While they are brighter, they didn't seem to fit perfectly in the socket and did'nt make a good connection which led to inconsistent (flickering) operation!
I removed them!

JC Whitney is known for selling some very cheaply made products. Why do you need brighter back-up bulbs? The back-up bulbs that are stock are not even close to 50 watts. The wiring and plastic may not be able to handle the added heat and power requirements. If you are afraid of hitting a person as you are backing up, then get the ones that make that annoying beeeeeep beeeeeeeep sound.

They would probably melt the plastic case and or the lens IMHO.

Actually, the ones on E-bay are different from the ones in JCW. My friend has a set and they are downright beautiful. They don't bring any more signal through the wiring, so melting is a non-issue, they're just blue/white instead of the stock orange/white.
