MY2000 vin#7499

My S grinded for the first time during the Falls Colors drive. I've had my S since Nov of 2000 with about 9500 miles. The S was driven more aggressively during the Falls Colors drive than I normally would. It grinded about 3 times during the drive. It happened only with high rpm shifts and only 1-2(upshift only). Now, I am contemplating whether to have it service or not. If it happens only occasionally and only with high rpm shifts I can probably live it. But if it gets worse I may take it in.

Also, I have not had the TSBs done so I will be keeping an eye on this poll.

i've had mine done twice and it still grinds. I believe the problem to be that my clutch doesn't fully disengage. As woodwork said previously, when you open up the tranny any evidence of that is cleaned out.

Guess it's time for a new gearset, clutch and flywheel!

Is that 2nd choice supposed to encapsulate both the people who have had it done and it worked, as well as those who never had it done? Sorta confusing, that's why I didn't vote.

Sorry for the confusion.
The question is have you had the TSB done and does it still grind.
Both answers apply only to those who have had the TSB.
Yes, TSB was done and it still grinds
No, The TSB was done and it doesn't grind
What I'm trying to determine is how effective is the TSB at solving the 1-2 grind. In my case, I would have been better not getting it done the second time. After the second "Fix" 3rd got more notchy and I got a "bonus" grind from 4==>5.
So far, even with this small sample it doesn't look like the fix works well. But we NEED MORE DATA.

And thanks CThree!!!!!!!!!
Scot you can still vote...........

Had my TSBs done at 13k, no grind afterwards at all that is not attributable to driver error. Mine seems to have been done well by a mechanic that has worked on my Hondas for the past 12 yrs. Varience seems to be due to many factors includiong the car, the mechanic, and the dirver...but one thing is certain, Honda needs to address this issue better!

I have had the "classic" 1-2 grind since I got the car, and it is nearly two years old. I have not had the TSB done, though, because I heard that it often did not do any good, I seldom get the grind, and at least at first there were all sorts of side effects caused by techs not knowing what to do. I also had hopes that Honda would eventually come up with a real cure, but apparently they are not all that interested in fixing the problem.

My car is in for grind fix #2 after the first attempt only made the problem far worse. As expected the problem is experienced frequently when it is warm and less often when the weather is cooler. A Honda DSM drove my car and could not reproduce the grind. I drove the car the same afternoon after the car and the weather had warmed up a bit. Result, the grind returned.
I actually first experienced the grind well before 4000 miles while August temps were in the triple digits. I reported the problem to my service writter who was aware of the TSB but suggested I wait until closer to my warantee expiration. He added the service department had little experience with the car yet. What I didn't know at the time was that you must first document any potential defect within the first 12,000 miles in order to make a case for the "Lemon Law" in Texas. In Texas at least two repair attempts for the same defect must take place in the same twelve months. After four reasonable attempts are made to correct the problem a replacement or buy back remedy exists.
Now if they will just realize my differential noise isn't "normal"

Had mine done, no more problems. My guess is, it's the dealership. BTW, why would AHM do a TSB for "Driver Error"?

Good point. I agree with the driver error comment. But, I really trust the mechanics at my dealer.....
