Hi guys,

im in the middle of looking for some aftermarket suspension for my s2000. I have done numerous searches and came across Ground control coilover kits. Most members on here who have them seem really happy with them, and it seems that ground control + koni yellows is the setup to get.

But i was wondering....how does the ground control kit go with the stock s2000 shocks? I dont track often but after something which offers a 2.5"-2.75" drop with better handling characteristics than springs. Would ground control kits go that low? Just after some inputs from members who have ground controls with stock shocks...

Your stock shocks will be toast with a 2.5"-3" drop.

Ground controls go really really low, but the above poster is correct, stock shocks would be shot.

What about for someone looking to use the GC/stock shock combo for the occasional track usage? Little to no drop, more than likely getting the car corner balanced...

... Would this setup work or should someone who is thinking about doing this spring for the GC/Koni or full coilovers?

I believe GC w/koni would give you much better results than the GC w/stock shocks.

Staying with the stock setup would be better than GC w/stock shocks.

If you can afford the coil-overs...

I had a friend that had ground control coilover on his WRX with KYB GR-2 struts and it was WAAAAAAAAY too damn stiff. I mean, it really sliced through corners but it was way too damn stiff for my back.

I have Tanabe Sustec Pro on my s2k, and my car feels so much smoother than that ground control kit.

mine lasted me about 20k with over a 2 inch drop, but you can buy used stock shocks for around 80-100 bucks, thats not bad for every 20kish..

you can order your GC kits with different eibach spring rates

Yeah BlownAP is right. I think 20K is not too much but you can pick up stock shocks for cheap. I have a set right now for about the price he listed. I just opted for the Konis with GC with a 500 front and 440 rear which is supposed to be used for Auto/Road Racing. I have seen some people on the site that have 550 and 500 rates. I will let you guys no how stiff it is when the suspension is done.
