I know exactly what sound you are talking about and my 05 does it too. I had an 01 that didn't do it, but it was one of the first new sounds I noticed when I picked up my 2005...
car is at the dealership right now...weather is crap here until the weekend or so so i'm in no hurry to get it back.
no mods on my car... it's only a week old

Had this noise on my S2000, and stopped for a while. Then it happened again last month for a couple of nights and now it is stopped. Dont know what is causing it.

My MY04 has a different but "similar" soft crh-crh-crh sound at very low RPM (up to 2000) in first and second gear, going straight as well, both with clutch fully released or when running the clutch in second gear around a parking lot corner. It's always had it, and I took it to the dealer twice, but Honda says it's normal (?). Is anyone here reporting this kind of noise?

while I was searching to see whether anyone has the same problem....there you are!!!
let me describe mine and see whether yours sound the same...
since I have a aftermarket exhaust, i won't be able to hear it if I was going fast, so that one is out of the question...
so when I am going real slow...say 5 mph or maybe a little more....and doing sharp 90 degrees turn or somewhat smaller angle...i hear this (kind of like rubbing by not really)....oounk oounk oounk is more like it!!!!!!!.....type of noise...sometimes seems to be at the front and other times seems to be at the back, can never figured out where the hell it is coming from....can happen when cold or hot (well is always there I think)....
took it to the shop and they said everything is fine and I somehow just couldn't get the same sound to them when I am there to try and demonstrate...
so....does it sound similar to yours?
were you able to figure out what it was??
thanks!!!!!!

I think I have this same sound. I have an 04 that I just picked up. It only had 58 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 1,500 miles. Mine makes a noise when I'm like at a dead stop and the wheel is turned all the way and I start moving. When I start moving i hear like a moaning or groaning sound coming from the rear. It doesnt happen all the time but I'm just wondering what it could be. I hope its nothing serious. I've never launched the car since I've had it. Anymore ideas??

I hear the same thing on my new '06. When I make slow turns with the wheel all the way to the left or right, I hear a low deep pulsating noise like something is being torqued. I think it only happens when the car is cold also.
I wasn't really worried when I heard it, as there are a lot of noises that happen with this car. I thought it was the power steering or dif, but if others don't hear it, I wonder if its a problem?

I had this problem on my MY00. Rough grinding sound that sounded associated with speed, rather then RPM's. However, it was only really noticable at low speeds.
I took it into my Honda service centre and they said it ended up being my 1st and 2nd gear syncros, and also needed 1st and 2nd gears replacing. When I bought my car, it had around 80k km's on the dial, and needed that work done pretty much straight away.

differential?
Mine makes a groaning sound as well. I've changed the fluid already, and I'll do it again soon. Keep up with maintenance and let Honda know that you think there's something wrong. Then you're all set when it comes to your warranty.
