Default Grinding gears, ahhhhhhh!

I just let a friend test drive my car, (I know, big mistake) he took 1st gear up to 9000, missed the shift and the thing let out the worst grinding noise I have ever heard. (I have never ground them so maybe even slight grinding sounds bad?)

Anywho, I drove the car about five miles home after that, no funny noises or abnormal behavior. I vtec'ed it a couple times on the way home and it seemed fine. Anyone have a serious gear grinding incident with no after effects? I am hoping there are not any teeth floating around in the tranny but perhaps I am paranoid.

Thanks for any feedback.

I've had my S2000 for three years and I still get the 1-2 grind. I replace the tranny fluid with honda MTF every other oil change, too. I know it's all about waiting an extra millisecond before trying to slip it into second and pushing the clutch ALL the way to the floor, but it's still frustrating that it happens.

Change your oil ASAP.
If there are metal particles floating around, they might get out!

Not quite sure how his 1-2 grind has anything to do with changing his oil.

Ouch! and people wonder why I don't let them drive my car. The shifter is so tight and precise, people who aren't used to driving it shouldn't try to drive the car hard. Just my $.02

I still get that 1-2 grind every now and then, usually in the first couple of miles, before the car warms up. It sucks, because most of my 1-2 changes are in those first few miles, both going to, and coming from work.
I haven't changed the tranny fluid yet either. Gotta do some research and see what's best.
