Grille covers - ever seen one that goes "behind?"
I like the idea of a grille cover, but I think it's a waste to put "in front", I would like to see one that is mounted "behind" the fender. Does this make sense, and has anyone seen such a thing?
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you put it behind the grill then you won't see it very well but if your motive for having one is to protect the rad and the A/C cannister then there is a cheap alternative. I got a piece of fiberglass/plastic 2 mm bug mesh, and attached just in front of the "delicate" parts for rock protection and to keep all those bugs from filling the rad fins. Correct
It's actually tougher than you would think. The top part of the black grill insert unscrews and is removed from the bumper. BUT the bottom part of it is part of the bumper... it is the same polyurethane material as the bumper but just unpainted (like the fake inlets on the right and left side).
To get a complete grill "behind" the bumper you have to take a dremel to the bottom of the grill to get it all off. I then had to glue the stock grill insert back to the bumper cover with my aluminum honeycomb material in between...

I actually managed to slip my Dennis' Smokin' grill though the slats of the factory grill and would have been able to fasten it but for my air horns which need readjusting out of the way. I too prefer the look of the grill behind the slats and in black.
