go straight or make a left? and you made a left? this would imply its an intersection in which you should have been familiar with the sign. are you familiar with that area/neighborhood/part of the city enough to realize that it was there? (honestly?)
also, did you stop? roll it? or did you *ahem* stop, and them creep out to look for oncoming cars because something was in your field of vision *cough cough* ?

Just give me the facts, man! Your first post says "i made a left and didnt see the stop sign on the right hand side..." and your second post says "then it split a little where u could turn left...or go straight...i went straight..." So.....did you go left or straight on? (I assume you actually went left.)
I suggest you get photos of the crime scene - just so that a judge can get an idea of exactly how "waayy to right of you" the sign is located. If it can be considered unreasonable, and out of your normal field of vision, you may have a good case to argue. However, if there's also a white line across the road where you are supposed to stop, that may not look good in any pics you take. You could, however, argue that you thought the stop sign was for straight ahead traffic (as it was on that side of the road), and not applicable to left turning. But that would depend a lot on how far back the sign was located, from the intersection.
BTW, you should try to find out how many tickets have been issued for rolling stops at this intersection. If there has been a lot, then a decent traffic lawyer will argue that the stop sign or road markings are so badly posted that they are obviously intended to promote moving traffic violations as a means of generating revenue. (A similar scenario was described in another thread, very recently.)
Good luck on getting out of this one. That insurance premium must be killing you already.
