I'm asking advice as far as what I should do, not what I should have done.
Please keep your thoughts to yourself.

What do you expect from people.
I got a ticket for 88 in a 45. I was on the interstate and for some reason it was a reduced speed zone. It was reckless and I have a spotless record. I had a +5 on my record until that day. I had to pay $500 in fine plus court cost and spend the day in jail with a bunch of stinky crackheads.
Good luck to you sir and I'm almost positive that you will not be getting your license anytime soon. If you do go take the test and pass expect the judge to take it away from you.

Let me get this straight.
You dont have a valid drivers license but have a driving permit. Doesnt the permit act as your license to drive? It's just limited to who you can drive and when (from what I remember, I don't know the new laws).
How do you have a permit but never applied for a drivers license? Is the permit even valid?

Yea......you sped and you drove without a license... There will be fines and you will not be driving for awhile - i dont know what anyone can tell you that would change that outcome, other than telling you to grow up. That WILL prevent future ticket(s) if you listen to them

In Louisiana, a permit allows you to drive with a licensed driver who is at least 21 years of age. I don't know about CA, but I think he's screwed.
yeah, he's screwed.

If you're a US citizen you have the right to travel freely unimpaired by rule or regulation... but if you've signed your permit or drivers license you signed a contract forgoing those rights. Good luck !
Be careful of what you sign... and ALWAYS add 'Without Prejudice. All Rights Reserved' next to your signature. Always! Words mean things. Also never admit to 'driving', you are 'traveling'. Again, words mean things. The cop who pulls you over will look at you like you're smoking something, but don't worry about it. They are good note takers (that's what they are trained to do). He/she will write down what you said in their report. Exactly what you want.
If you end up in court the judge will know what 'Without Prejudice' means. Most of the time you'll find that phrase next to the judges signature.
'Without Prejudice' = without detriment to any existing right or claim.

I smell a lock coming very soon.
I understand that what you're expecting is some real advice, and not a discussion about what you did wrong... Life isn't over though... I've heard of some really horrid stories of people making bad decisions behind the wheel, and yet legally they're still driving around. My only real advice for you would be to hire a traffic attorney. It may sound very heavy but if you want to earn your driving privelege again soon, I suggest you contact one.
