Wait so you saw the cop then sped past him or did I misunderstand?
Also be careful about the cigarette . . . in the So Cal forum there is a member that dropped his cig out the window while getting pulled over and got a $$$ littering ticket, not even a speeding ticket!

yeah i sort of did speed past him, but i did slow down a bit by down shifting, i probably had maxed at 60 earlier, and had slowed down coming up the hill and then downshifted just over the top of the hill. I was probably going like 45-47 when i passed him.
About the ciggarette, I purposefully threw it out in full view of his headlights so that he could see that I wasnt trying to hide/ditch anything.

The only speeding ticket I've ever been issued was due to me "testing out" the stock airbox lid removal mod. I guess I got a bit carried away with the sound... cop was pretty cool and gave me the minimum penalty.

I was pulled over for the first time when I was cruising a bit too fast in post-Katrina New Orleans. An FBI expedition raced up behind me and flashed his lights -- they both came up to the car... the guy on my right (I could see b/c the top was down) had his glock pulled out. Nice.
FBI: what the hell are you doing?
Me: driving like a total asshole - Im sorry.
FBI: laughed (other guy with gun still on me)
Gimme your license... I'll be back
He let me go... but now I drive very slooooowwwww

He may have mentioned radar, i dont recall, but the cops are pretty well equiped around here, and he looked like he was staked out for only one purpose

Glad to hear that you got out of the ticket . I think i've been pulled over five times in the S, but three of them were for no front plate . With the dark wheels/ red interior of my car it definately gets their attention in a bad way.

Only pulled over once:
Two minutes into the test drive in March of 2000, 45 goes to 35 for no reason. Its a well know speed trap north of San Antonio, but I thought that was on the highway, not the backroad.
I don't even think I had downshifted the car yet as it was about half a mile from the dealership. Sales agent was with me too.
I can't tell you the mixed feelings you have when you feel excited about buying a new car, but filled with dread at the thought of this as some sign to you to don't buy the thing.
I went for it. Still got it.

The only time I've ever had a cop look like he was interested in pulling me over in the S2000, I was going too fast for him to be able to stop, turn around, and accelerate enough to catch up to me. I did the temporary lift off gas/oh shit panic response, then realized that there was a 99% chance of getting away, so I resumed. Fortunately I was almost at my destination so it wasnt a big deal.
I do have one story I like to brag about. I was 16 years old (and not the mature person I am today... ). At the time I was driving my mom's hand-me down 1991 Dodge Grand Caravan. White with wood trim and red interior. You know you are jealous.
I was driving home late at night back in Harford County Maryland and it was super foggy. I went through a green light at a town intersection at about 40 mph. A cruiser was going the other way and as soon as I passed through the intersection, all I can see is huge blobs and red and blue in my rear-view mirror. The fog made a neat effect (but i nearly crapped myself). I knew a few backroads in the area and I decided to go for it.
So there I am. Middle of the night, foggy as hell, driving the piss out of a '91 Grand Caravan. It payed off because after about a mile on the backroads, the lights faded off and eventually dissapeared. Oh to be 16 again..
