Now I can say I got one. It's good to join the ranks of S2000 owners. My 2001 s2000 is serial no. 2101 and it was sold to me by a salesman who's phone extension was 21. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket but I feel lucky to have what I have. True happiness is appreciating what you've got and I got it and man do I appreciate it! I got it for MSRP; however, when I thanked the salesman and told him how much I appreciated a dealership that wasn't out to rape customers, he smiled and said it was only because it's the middle of winter in Michigan. Come Spring he said they'd join the greedy group since they've heard cars are going to the highest bidders. What a shame for those still looking.

Glad to hear that you got it, dlq! If you had waited until tomorrow to get your car, you would have purchased #2101 on 2-1-01 Enjoy it.

I GOT ONE! 2001 Silverstone silver and black, #1617. Just drove it home. $17 UNDER MSRP. Can't wait until my 1000 miles are up.

Now, who wants to buy a good used 1998 Prelude? My garage is kinda full!

Actually it gets even better, because of road salt I'm having it delivered 60 miles by flat-bed truck this Friday, so I quess I should have said:

My 2001 S2000, no. 2101, sold by salesman 21, will be delivered 2/2/2001.

Too much, right?

Congratulations!!!
It seems that both of us got a good deal by taking advantage of the Winter in Michigan. My Dealer in Kentucky did not want to go below $1700 over MSRP (like doing me a big favor). I met a guy from a Dealer in Michigan at the Detroit Auto Show and offered me to choose between SIX S2000 at MSRP. He did not have a red one, but he got it for me from another dealer in Michigan, and I am going to pick it up the day after you get yours, this Saturday. Then I have to drive it the same day back to Louisville (~400 miles). That will be an excellent way to break it in (hope it won't be too slow at 3000RPM in 6th gear). It's my brother's birthday so I will have 2 good reasons to celebrate and get drunk once I am back home.

3days for delivery

Congrats and GREAT JOB to get them to flat bed it to you. This car should be driven because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to.

You did the right thing. You will not regret it.

Make sure you vary the rpm on the trip home, do not hold it at a constant rpm for more than say a 1/2 hour. I don't have my book in front of me, but someone will tell you that at 3000 rpm in 6th is probably 90mph.

Mark,
Silver with Red/Black. My son's a big UM fan but don't look for dad to let him have the car for the games!

fastoy & Naka,
Congrats!

Naka,
60mph = 3,300 rpms. Your ok. But, do vary the speed often; don't use the cruise for the first 300 mi.

[green]I had to drive mine back from Ft Worth. Based on what Ive read on this board, I was concerned about proper breakin so I bailed out about every 50 miles to let the revs come down and back up. I also changed the cruise setting up and down from 60 to 80 MPH to keep the revs moving. Hope it was enough. It was only a 200 mile drive. It's now in town and I'm driving at urban speeds, so I'm using the entire range up to the recommended 5500 RPM. I'll probably creep the redline up to 6K at 600 miles and 1K/100 miles until I reach redline at 900 miles. Then it's out of my way. Melissa and I will be gone.[/green]
