Got my new windshield
As some of you know my windshield met with a rouge rock about two weeks ago. The initial 3 or 4 inch crack took a meandering stroll across my windshied over the next week. My wife couldn't believe I wasn't more upset. (I'm pretty anal about my cars - like most of you.) I said "hey, it wasn't the paint, and it's insured." A door ding on the other hand....never mind, I don't want to think about it.
Anyway, I got my new windshield yesterday (retail $578CDN) for a $50 deductible. Now, I have only 7000KM on my car, all summer driving, and I can't believe how pitted my old windshield was in comparison to a brand new one. It's as if the factory windshield is really soft or something. I hope the new one is better at resisting pitting.

Keep us posted on the strength of the new window, I'm really curious if it will be better.
Is it an OEM windshield or an aftermarket replacement?
My factory windshield seems very susceptible to damage and pitting, I sure hope we can find a solution.

woodson, i need a new windshield as well......
does the PPG have any waviness to it when you look thorugh the windshield??
i find most non-OE windshields are not as "consistent" with the view that they give - some places have some "distortion" when looking out of them. i.e. images bend or become wavy in some places (usually near the edges of teh windshield.
btw, i got quoted $929 for an OE.............

No waviness. I thoroughly checked it before I accepted it. $929?? This brand was recommended to me and cost was not a factor because I was going through insurance.

I am not sure the windshield is soft or more easily chipped then others. I think the real problem is simply how low to the ground the windshield is relative to most cars. Rocks that in most cars would hit the bumper or hood and be deflected or slowed down get a clean shot at the windshield in the S2K. I am not sure there is much we can do about it.
