If you wanna be safe, fan out the clutch at about 5500-6000 rpm's, if you wanna really good run drop it hard at around 6800-7000rpm's (but beware anything can happen if you push it too much!)

you want your tires to spin at first it is better for your trans and diff. I smoked a wrx wagon last night, 7000rpms, dump the clutch. the car slides a bit, then feather out and go. bad for the clutch, good for the smile.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does "feather out the clutch" mean?? Or fan out...

Thank You.

Nah, you just mess with the clutch pedal to prevent too much wheelspin and/or engine bogging. Basically, you're slipping the clutch just the right bit to have enough wheelspin to keep the car from bogging, but not so much as to slow you down.

Coefficient of static friction > coefficient of sliding friction

I rode with 2 board members on autocross runs and both of them launched their cars at around 6k rpm. This seems to be the happy medium between good acceleration and too much wheel spin. For those who say that this car is not meant to launch, you are incorrect. Drag strips are not the only place where a good launch is necessary.
