Is this a good deal
My friend found an s2000 for sale for $10,000 It is an 02 and has only had 1 owner. He has all records of the cars service and most if not all was preformed at the dealer.
Here is the catch... it has 149K miles on the car. He lives about 90 miles 1 way from where he works so most of those miles are freeway. If you do the math, it is like 21K miles a year, or about 1.7 tanks of gas a week (lol)...
So what do you think, should he offer him 8K for the car? KBB and Edmunds used car appraiser says it is worth 11000 in good condtion with that many miles.
Also, he plans on keeping the car for a long time and the next car he gets will be a dad car.

Yeah, I... i mean my "friend"... is kind of on a limited budget. I... again i mean he... (lol) have the money to buy a little more expensive one, but 13K is like all i have, so this ones is just about the right price... And if things start to go bad, and i dont think they will, then i will still have some moeny saved to be able to fix the stuff as opposed to not having the money.
But you think that is a good deal... that amount of miles is not a problem?

For $1700 less, you are looking at a car with 100k more miles nearly, and a glass rear window

Only advice I can give is get the newest car with the least miles that you can afford. Check carfax and have an inspection done by someone that knows S2000's.

I have been looking through this forum on tips and what to look out for when buy a used s2000 and i think i am prepaired to go and look at it. I am going to offer the guy like 8250 and be like willing to pay 9k. I think that it is a good deal, as long as he has all the records to back up his maintance.
is there anything i need to be wary of, like obvious signs of abuse?

Make sure all vin numbers match up..., check all seems in the car to ensure they are flush, including hood and trunk. Put the top up and down a couple of times. Take it for a ride on a bumpy road and let go of the steering wheel to see if it pulls. If the tires are older check the treds not only for wear but for uneven wear.
Listen for noises and report them here someone will know what it is. There is an extensive list on a sticky I think that someone compiled just a bit ago and it is very extensive.

i think thats a bit too much for the mileage. although the car is probably so fine and doesnt havent anythign wrong with it. im sure you could find a better deal for a bit more cash.

The guy sounds honest but tires tend to wear quickly and I am wondering how this could still have the originals.
