Default Good Deal on '08 S2K?

Brought my '07 Ridgeline in for service. The thing's leaking oil from 2 different places around the transfer case. Luckily in warranty but still...I thought I had bought a Honda not another Audi.

Anyways, while they were checking I chatted up my salesman from a year ago and got to talking about the S2K as I always do whenever I'm there. One thing leads to another and the next thing I know I'm "negotiating" with the GM. He lays it out there with a, "Rob. What do I need to do to get you to buy the car today. You couldn't have come up with a better time or car as I have 6 of these things that I absolutely have to get rid of. Our typical inventory is 30 days and I've been sitting on these for 60. I just got off of a conference call where we discussed getting rid of these S2000's!!"

So I say, "How about invoice and 0% financing." He says that he can only do 0% for a short term but will sell to me for invoice. I ask what the rate would be and he comes back with 5.99% for very good (720+) credit. I say nope. He says what else do I need to do? I say how about 2.9% and invoice and he says deal!

So bottom line: $32,300 and 2.9% for 5yrs.

Good deal or can I do better??

Thanks guys.

Rob

sounds good, i dont' know if it's in your area (check edmunds.com "current incentives") but there's $2,500 dealer cash rebate from honda to the dealer on S2000's for September.

Maybe $2,500 under invoice? or split it?

but 2.9% sounds very good, that's below what honda financial is offering, and below what i've seen at most credit unions.

Seems like an okay deal, but I thought invoice was lower than that. I've heard of people getting it for below invoice, but it's rare and dependent upon where you live too.

Quick responses...gotta love this site!!

Just checked and when looking by zipcode it shows only financing deals. But when I click on the financing deal it takes me to a page where it lists all current incentives and rebates and the 2500 is listed.

Hmm....maybe not such a good deal afterall. I'll have to call and find out about the cash incentive.

Thanks again,
Rob

You can buy barely used 06's and 07's in the low 20's, worst mid 20's, these days. Not sure why I'd buy new but that seems like a fair deal.

I dunno man, I thought you could get brand new S2000's from the dealership for about $31,000 OTD these days. I could be wrong though. I know I bought my last 05 for $31,500 OTD and I've heard they have gotten cheaper.

With the sales tax and licensing fee here, it's impossible. It would mean getting a brand new S for $28K, which is impossible here.

There's a guy on here (rioyellows2k) that's a salesman in DFW and he's sold a number of S2000s for $28,500+TTL, or about $30,500 OTD. You paid pretty high for the car, sorry to say.

yea but look at your interest rate. I would do it because your interest rate is awesome over 5 years. Get the color you want
