Default A good aftermarket clutch???

My clutch decided to start slipping over the weekend, and it is going to need to be replaced.

What are peoples opinions on aftermarket clutches?

It would be helpful if people could post the brand, model, and estimated price.

I'm looking at an ACT Organic Street Disc and Heavy Duty Pressure plate Kit.....any comments?
The third one down on this site:

I live near DC and work in Bethesda, so I will be doing some start and stop driving (I know this plays into factor on what type of clutch).

I dont do any autox/track and this is my daily driver.

Any help is appreciated...

Thanks Guys.....

SwansS2K,

Sorry, no advice here, but out of curiosity, how many miles are on your car? Reason I ask is, I recently replaced the clutch in my '02 with an OEM setup, and I only had 54k miles on the car, which seemed kind of early. Just curious what kind of life others are getting out of the clutch. I realize it depends on driving style, but I'm curious nonetheless. Thanks...

ACT Organic Street Disc is gonna be your best bet for a daily driver, i've heard a bit about that clutch. its got the smooth engagment of a stock clutch, but can handle more power & torque. i would also HIGHLY suggest a toda flywheel change as well.. while your already in there replacing clutch, cant go wrong with getting the flywheel replaced too !

It's only got 42,000 on it

I just bought it and it had 37,500 at the time of sale.

I'm guessing the person before must have killed the clutch as I have never had problems with clutches in the past.

I would do the flywheel....but I don't have the extra $400 or so right now....I def was not planning to have to replace the clutch this early.....

Didn't have luck with the clutchmaster stage 3 ( kevlar ) ( the disk was destroyed after only one year !! So i would'nt recommend it but if i'd have to change it i would go for a stock disk with the act pressure plate !
I heard lots of good things from this combo !!

do u have the 4 puck or the 6 puck. i heard those are really grabby. i blew my clutch about a week ago, exactly at 60,300 miles. i bought the car with 41,000 miles. so im pretty pissed about that. i was thinkin about goin with the act disk, act PP and toda flywheel or act disk, mugen pp, and toda flywheel. we'll see what happens. i hear that the clutch isnt the problem, its actually that the stock pressure plate is weak. so thats why u can run an OEM clutch disk but u gotta get a heavy duty PP. just applying the knowledge ive learned so far

YOURE PISSED????? Ive only had mine 5,000 miles and it went....and its only at 43,000

Granny musta been driving this sh*t.............so yeah im pissed

Anyways, I think im going with the whole ACT set up.

No new flywheel unless they say it needs to be replaced......just dont have the money right now

Do people think that the OEM disc is better???
Or are they just sayin OEM so they dont spend more on the ACT disc????

i was gonna go with these combinations

a) toda clutch, toda flywheel, mugen pressure plate

b) OEM clutch, toda flywheel, mugen pressure

c) OEM clutch, OEM flywheel, ACT or mugen pressure plate.

I CANT DECIDE!!!! i track my car too so i dont wanna go with all OEM set up
