Here is my list in order from best to worst -
Ferrari F40 - I dream of stepping in the cockpit again before I die. All around jaw dropping.
Porsche 911 - The one I drove was heavily modded.
S2000 AP2 - My daily driver. My only gripe is the steering ratio and the clutch delay valve. And the seat belt rattling.
Miata 1 gen 1992 - Modded suspension was awesome. Gearing was awesome. Needed more power. Glad I had Recaro seats. The stock ones sucked.
Eclipse GSX 1Gen - I miss the turbo. Handling wasn't the best, but it wasn't terrible. Transmission shifting was very weird to me.
Mustang GT - Was nice to have that torque, but felt Fordy.
Cars I wouldn't admit owning...
Scion TC - Toyota Corrola...
RX8 - I can't find any redeeming qualities in this car what so ever.
Many people say the S2000 is the real deal race car platform. Every time I push that red start button I'm reminded of it.

It will give you a greater appreciate for the S.
I just got done test driving a used '01 Audi TT, which was on my short list of cars I was looking at before I bought my S, and it made me appreciate my car that much more. The transmission was one of the worst that I've ever had the displeasure of using, the gates were really close together, it didn't shift smoothly, even the knob was awkwardly big. The interior was strange also, somehow there is even less storage space in the cockpit of the TT than there is in the S. The car seemed fast, but heavy, and didn't handle as well as I thought it would. I think it must have had an aftermarket clutch in it, because when I got back in my car I nearly put a hole through the floor when I went to depress the clutch, I had forgotten how light our clutch pedal is. Likewise, my car in general felt so much lighter and more nimble once I started driving it again, it was a funny sensation.
So I guess in closing, we have great cars, lol.

I can understand your perspective. The engineers that worked on the S2000 definitely hit the nail on the head. It really is like sitting down behind the wheel of a dream driving experience after you have driven a 'every day' type passenger car for several miles.
That said, however, I enjoy the shifting in my '12 Si more than my S2000 - the throws are slightly longer, but the transmission is much smoother - not so 'notchy'.
But the handling, and raging lunatic that lives under the hood of the S2000? Tough to find something more fun.

great thread
people almost never believe me and they def think im a crazy fan boy when i explain that a cheap honda is more fun than almost any new shiny high tech expensive thing out there. they just dont understand what makes a car engaging.
the only car that felt similar to the s2k for me was the f430. it's a great car for sure, but i noticed funny crappy bits in it like the stereo, electronics, controls and the hid lights were utter sh*t. boxster s were pretty good too, but not the oddly weighted 911 s.
they just dont make care quite like this anymore. i miss the old integras. they had more spunk than most modern cars do as well.

I've driven a F430 Scuderia on a track - it has the same personality as the S2000 - but it has double the performance.

I finished detailing my dad's 1988 RX7 (with around 9k miles on it), I drove it around the block, but let me tell you, I hated it. The shifting sucked. There was no clutch petal feel, and pretty much no soul. I also felt like I was sitting on a couch. No wonder why he never drives it.
