Glad I didn't buy an STI!

I've just participated in my first autocross after purchasing the car 2 months ago and it definately teaches you how to control the S.
I'm amazed at how hard the car pulls and corners without lifting off the throttle and how easy it is to correct the car when sliding (yes one brief encounter trying to save the car from the wall)
I'm so impressed that I'm thinking of competing in Auto X from now on.
My $0.02

I can't wait for the spring, because I plan on hitting at least 7 of the 8 local BMWCCA events this year (they're the best group to run with in New England)

I have an S2000 as well-I love it so far. Here's a link that might make you rethink your choice between the "S" and the STi. Its pretty sick... http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g316/Dyn...4thgearpull.flv

yeah man! I had a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS and I used to AutoX the hell out of that thing! It's such a fun sport, and so much more affordable than the track.

I owned an 03 S2000, and now own an 05 STi.
I don't race or track my cars - they're daily driven, including heavy Canadian winters, with the occasional spirited drive to the cottage. For me, the STi is a better car for my needs. While I'm sure the s2000 handles better at the limit, I never reach that limit. In my spectrum of driving, they both handle the same.
S2K FTW -
top down
wrap around cockpit
perfect pedal placement
looks
STi FTW -
more room
more power, much more
boxer rumble thru a Prodrive exhaust
AWD grip, summer and winter
I have no regrets about owning either car.

they still run at Devens? I remember they went to Weymouth for a while and everyone liked it better, but that didn't last long and it was back to Devens. This was a few years ago. I might have to try out an autoX with the S just to learn the limits. I used to race the Audi quite a bit.
