Default Give me opinions on buying this car

My friend was trying to buy my car but could not get the funds together quick enough since I was holding it for a while for him. I had another buyer and my friend told me to sell it to the other buyer. Also I think it was a little too much for him to spend. So now he is looking for a pretty inexpensive s2000 pretty quick.

We came across this one on autotrader.
2001 S2000

I talked to the guy that owns the car yesterday. The front bumper needs to be repainted, the passenger fender and hood have been repainted, and the odometer shows only 10k miles. The owner said that the previous owner for some reason had to have the odometer replaced. The other one said 37k miles and this one says 10k miles. So a total of 47k miles. Other than those reasons, the guy says the car is in great condition and has a clear title. My friend is planning on putting a carbon fiber hood on it anyways so the hood is not really a problem. The owner was real honest about all of the problem and said feel free to have a mechanic check out the car.

What do you guys think about this car? It has 19" Racing Hart wheels, aem cai with bypass valve, DC sport headers, and Apexi catback exhaust. The guy also said that the $16,300 is negotiable. Please post opinions and remember my friend does not have a whole lot of money to spend. Thanks alot,

Depends how far you can negotiate it down, and IF it checks out. Overall, it sounds fishy though. I mean come on, odo rollback, messed up body panels. All that, and its in "great condition"

FYI, a instrument replacement, if performed by a dealer, should read the correct mileage for the vehicle. I can't imagine that someone who is the DIY kind of guy on a replacement of that caliber would let his car get into that kind of condition. Definitely get it checked out before even making an offer.

Here is a carfax thanks to Trung, let me know what you guys think:

Since its establishment as an independent company in 1986, CARFAX has collected the largest vehicle history database in North America. This database currently includes over 3 billion records from thousands of public and private sources.

I feel kind of bad for whoever bought the car. Look at the carfax closely:

CARFAX found no inconsistent odometer readings in the mileage history of this 2001 HONDA S2000 (JHMAP11441T004123).

Date: Mileage:
04/13/2001 6
03/18/2003 16,046
03/27/2003 16,070
08/27/2004 37,022
06/08/2005 37,000

And now he claims it has 10,000 on the odometer with the new one in it. So that may mean that he put almost 10k miles in 1 month!
