Default Getting out of a lease. SwapaLease?

I was wondering if any of you have used swapalease, and whether or not you have had any luck w/ it?
I'm debating letting go of my 02 s2k w/ 7500 miles. Sebring/black. I'm only a 13 mnths into the lease w/ 23 months remaining. I've thought of buying it outright, but the price is too high. ($30k)

One of the problems w/ lease swapping is that Honda Financial holds the original leasee responsible. Because some lenders have this annoying caveat, swapalease has come up w/ the the Swapalease Peace of Mind program, which protects the original leasee from any liabilties.

If anyone has any experience w/ getting out of a lease or swapping, please let me know. Or if anyone is interested in a taking the remaining 23 payments w/ 0 down at $522 a month.

Thanks,
Jp

you can lease a brand new 2003 with only paying inceptions out of pocket for $360/month for 36 months........

$522 a month??? You should be financing a car for that price, not leasing it!!!!!

No way in hell...Honda would go bankrupt. Inceptions.....What do you mean by that. Is down payment in there at all.

I put about $2000 down including all of the BS fees and first months payment. My lease is $305 a month incl. 5% tax for 48 mos.

Last month the dealership here was offering $379/mo with 0 down on a 36 month lease. (not that that helps with the Swapalease question )

What protection does the original lessee have??

Swapalease sucks. Don't waste your money.

Dang those are some high payments IMO. I essentially sold my Honda 99Civ SI, which I was leasing. The buyout was 13k on the car, 42/48k allowed miles, and 12 months left. The dealer took it off my hands for 12.7k $700 out of pocket for my S, $375/month+tax. For what your paying, it was close to that if I wanted to buy G-Luck
Steve
PS-IMO your best bet would be to try to sell the car outright, but still owing 30k (ouch) I don't see that happening for anything but a big loss

I pay $560 a month for 60 months for a purchase. My car was used though ($28,000), but everyone still thinks that it's new after almost 3.5 years. I can't believe that you still owe $30,000. Looks like you are stuck for a while. Man, I feel for you. What car are you trying to get?

mid to hi $3XX for 3/36 with a $2K down is completely doable. many people here have that type of a deal. if you go the swap-a-lease route, you're going to have to offer an financial incentive, like maybe $1 or 1.5K upfront. this may be enough to sweeten the deal for someone. this is less than the beating you're going to take on the buyout, but you're going to have this lease hanging over you for two more years. mentally, I couldn't handle it, and your credit report is still going to show the lease as outstanding if it is not "transferred" by honda.

best of luck to you. GOOD THING YOU DIDN'T DO A FORTY EIGHT MONTH LEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all of the responses. Wow!

Let me explain.. I got my s2k last april in Los Angeles. At that time they were still selling for 3-8k over msrp. I paid msrp, put nothing down, 0, not even 1st mth, no tax, no drive off, etc...
My monthly is 480+8.25% tax(gotta love California).
So, based on a $33k car, it's a fine deal.

A lot of the leases you guys may be referring to are based on invoice or thereabouts. ($29ish)
The car I was thinking about getting was an 03 M3, or a prsche 996.

Thanks again,
Jp
