Default Getting oil changed by other than dealer

Quick question. Have any of you ever had your oil changed by a "quick-lube" place? I need to get an oil change before going on a 500 mile trip and the dealer is all booked up (I am unable to do it myself because of time constraints as well). If I bring a factory filter and my Mobil 1 oil do you think that the "quick-lube" would be able to change the oil properly?

If so, is there anything specific that I should tell the technician - any quirks to changing the oil in an S2000.

Thanks
DJ

If you already have the filter and the oil in hand......get under the car and do it yourself!!!!

I would NEVER EVER EVER take my S to "quick/econo/jiffy/shitty/lube". Yeah you may get away with a couple decent oil changes and as soon as your confident they know what their doing.......

They forget to put the oil cap back

They strip your oil drain plug

They damage your hood

It takes less than 15 minutes to change your oil....

I work in a small shop so most would do a good job. Ask if you can watch them do it, they will be less likely to mess it up. If you know how to do it yourself it will only take you 15 minutes. But if you absolutely have to have someone do it, just double check their work.

Don't do it unless they allow you to supply your own OEM honda filter. The filter for the S2000 is designed specifically for the car, and to be honest, other filters fall short in quality and build when compared to the S2k filter. That's why I stopped going to valvoline instant oil change shops.

Now i just get mine changed at the honda dealer, and provide my own case of valvoline synpower synthetic. I'd do my oil myself, but it's not allowed at our apartment parking lot.
