Gearbox problem??? or Me?
1) Going from 1st to 2nd gear, as soon as i let go of the clutch, car gets jerky move. It could be the driver's fault since this is my first stick shift ever but it only happens on 1st to 2nd.
2) Sometimes the gear won't go into 3rd. (Sometimes i'll put the gear in every gear before i start driving and it seems to eliminate the problem)
3) Click or Clunk sound generates (is this the notchiness u guys have been talking about???) going into 2nd.
other than that, my s does not have any problem. Should I take it to the dealer??? (I am afraid they'll make scratches or door dings so i rather not if this is normal thing for all the S's out there)
Thank u

It sounds like you need to work on your shifting technique. Depress clutch fully as you let off gas and go to next gear. Slowly release clutch as you accelerate. Don't worry, I've been driving manuals for forty years and i still flub a shift from time to time; it won't take you long to get the hang of it. Have fun and be careful.

Going in to 3rd gear, I have a problem once in a while where the stick kicks back slightly before it goes into 3rd gear. A lot of other people have the same problem.
Mine also clunks when it goes into 2nd gear sometimes. This is pretty normal. I don't think you need to take it to the dealer. If you develop the 2nd gear grind, then you need to take it into the dealer.

First of all, HELLO! This is my first post after much lurking and drooling over all of the beautiful cars posted here. I too just learned to drive stick over christmas, and one of the cars I test drove was the S2000 because I have been lusting over it for a while. I have found, in general, and even more so on the S, that 1st to 2nd shifts are the most difficult. I don't remember why, but my dad explained it to me (he drives a new M3 and used to race porsches). I will say, though, that the new M3 is a harder car to drive. Yeah, my dad let me take it for a spin (with him in the car) after a week in a stick. That car has incredibly tiny gates in between gears. I actually shifted from 1st to 4th at one point, but the car kept going like I had shifted completely naturally. I was impressed. Anyway, nice to meet all of you!
p.s. I'm warning you, I'm gonna have a ton of questions! I look forward to further discussions!
