Your ID says you have an Ap2.

Regardless, the engine should have been spinning at about 10,200 RPM.

Someone check behind me on this....

63(mph)/9(,000 rpm) = 7(mph per 1k rpm)

63(mph) + 7(mph) = 70(mph)

9(,000 rpm) + 1(,000 rpm) = 10(,000 rpm)

add in the change and you get round about 10,200RPM...... kaboom.

I'm in the same boat as you. Downshifted to 2nd at around 70 2 months ago. Rev-limiter kicks in at 62 as I found out later on. Luckily no massive failures yet, but get your valve retainers checked if you did indeed over-rev on an AP1.

10200 is not good, but it's not instant kaboom either. Definitely worth checking under the valve cover, though.

Keep in mind that unless you actually logged the speed and/or RPM data, your guess about what speed the tires were actually spun up to is nothing more than a reasonable guess. It all depends on tire slip and clutch slip and speedo time averaging and....

s2000amuse, what was wrong with the gear calculator? I gave it to you in a similar post you started here:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...dpost&p=9018578

Whether you calculate it the easy way or the hard way, your engine is still going to be hurtin'

According to the TurnZero gear calculator for an AP1, 71mph happens at 9640rpm in second gear if you factor in tire deformation. 9340rpm without that factor.
