sorry, but the digital dash is part of what makes it an S2000..

i was sitting in my passenger seat while my friend was driving today (have sat in the passenger seat like 3 times in 2 years) and i was like "damn the entire layout of this cockpit is just perfect." watching the tach and speedo climb as a passenger was fun!

Well a lot of the engineering that went into the S2000's cockpit was from the honda F1 car. Out speedo and tach is classic F1 style so all you have to do is glance and know exactly where you are and not have to stare. However I miss needles. I wish there was an alternative. Spoon did make a cluster that had an analog tach with digital numbers and it was in a fer race car S2000's but no place would sell them and if they did they would prolly be like 1500 dollars. But I just think if they did make an analog cluster for the S it would be so sick cuz I'm sure it would be tinted gauges like the acuras and the accords. I just love those clusters when you get in and can't see em til you start it and then all the numbers and needles glo. Yeah the S's is dark til you start it but then it glo's all digital and it's not the same as when all the numbers glo on an analog gauge. But thats just my opinon

I originally preferred the analog gauges but after driving my car for awhile i got use to it. I actually really like the digital dash now. There's nothing like lighting up that arch.

I kind of like the digital dash. I don't know why. It's easier to read the RPM's and speed.

when i decided to buy my S, i thought the first mod i'd do is get an analog tach, but after driving it for a while, i LOVE the digital display! i agree with 6speedftw, lighting up that arch is definitely a fun factor that comes with the S.

When I had analog gauges, I wanted digital ones.

Now that I have digital gauges, I like 'em very much and don't thing I want to go back at all.

I'm a gadget guy, and there's really nothing about analog gauges that I'm nostalgic for.

The S2000 guages remind me of the Mychron data logger on my kart. I like them and they seem really natural to use. The tach is an easy to see sweep across the top just like the Mychron. The Mychron and I think the F1 cars, add LEDs that light up from the outer edges to the middle as you approach redline. They then flash together when you really need to shift. The speedo can be any kind of display since I only really need to read it when I have plenty of time to comprend it.

I only wish the S2000 had a data logger that you could play back on the dash. The mychron does this or down loads to a PC. The playback ability would keep your friends or honda mechanics from red lining it without you knowing. Shoot, my RC airplane has a $50 data logger that plays back all kinds of info (speed, temp, altitude, batt). I don't see why Honda couldn't add them.

When I originally got the car, the only thing I DIDN'T like about it was the digital dash. I've always been a sucker for clean analog gauges, but now that I have driven the car for awhile, I really can't imagine going back. It is very convenient to look down and be able to read your speed/RPMs so easily. However, one thing I would have liked is for the dash to be a little brighter, or perhaps to use other colors, like whites and blues...I don't know, maybe I'm just a ricer
