Default Gas Tank Meter

I have 4 bars left and still cruising . Stopped at my girl's house , and took off an hour later; and wow! what did I see, my tank doesnt have 4 bars anymore and the light shines brightly on "OUT OF GAS"!!! Very concern I took off to the nearest gas station, 5 miles, and guess what? 4 bars came back. What the heck!!! It wasnt just once, a couple of times already.

I noticed that too. It will jump between 2 and 0 bars. Just tonight I drove about 30 miles on 0 bars. LOL

it's a know issue of the S's fuel meter, heck all honda's i drove have that issue, you'll use up 70% of your gas and it will show half on your meter.. the last half will be done in about 50 miles... hehe.. you just have to get used to it...

i think it goes up and down because of temp change(gas expands a lot) and settling... of course i can totally be wrong...

either way.. it's normal... try just putting 2 gallons of gas when it is almost empty and drive around.. you'll notice that it will go as high as 1/3 of the meter...

I think the current gas milage conditions affect the reading. In other words, on the highway cruisining a gallon is worth say 4 bars, in the city, the same gallon is worth 2 bars. It seems that way at least.

But if I depended on the gage alone, I'd have been left on the side of the highway months ago. Use the odometer too. If it's near 250 miles I fill up before getting on the highway.

Were you parked on a hill? The float reads differently if you are parked on an even surface.

No mountain or hill. Just a regular city road. Didnt go on the freeway then into the city either, it was all city.
Thanks guys for your comments and thoughts.
