Default Gas stations

My father owns several gas stations in my area. If its one thing he knows its gas. This information comes from him and I have been using it ever since I drove a car. Couple things many people don't know...

Many gas stations do not have additives in their fuel, like:
7-eleven
quicktrip
citgo
racetrac

These gas stations are always alot cheaper than the ones below for this reason. (Less quality, not grade, fuel costs cheaper). The gas stations above are always in one price range, and the ones below are in another.

These gas stations do have those additives that prevent buildup in your injectors and valves:
*Texaco
*Mobil
*Chevron
*Shell (bought out Texaco)
Phillips 66
British Petroluem (BP)
Conoco
Sunoco
Diamond Shamrock (eh, I guess)

* means the ones I like the best and the ones I go to.

I say this because I see enough people try and take care of their cars, but then they go and put low quality gas in it and wonder why they start experiencing problems down the road. I can sometimes tell when someone puts crap gas in my car, its that bad in my opinion.

I agree with you. I filled up with QT gas one time a few years ago and I swore I never would again.

It's Chevron, and Chevron only for me.

Am PM/Arco is part of BP.. so does that mean it has addictives as well? Their gas is usually cheaper than everyone else in this area. Any idea how they compare to the rest?

Arco is a BP company and the only reason they are cheaper is that they don't do credit cards so they don't have to pay the few % to the credit company to do the transaction therefore they can offer it for a few cents less.

I'm pretty sure Arco does accept CC, at least around here. Anyone know how their gas compare to the top tier ones?

I think Vanos meant ARCO does not have its own credit card. I didn't know ARCO was owned by BP...however, I haven't been home since '99.

I have no idea how ARCO's gas compares to top tier companies, but my cars always ran fine on their gas.

While going to school, I worked for California Weights and Measures. All gas brands were lab tested for octane, sulphur, etc. etc. Don't know about other states, but if tested, it should be public info. Seems like a good way to compare your favorate brand. However, many stations get generic gas from common carriers.

I only use Citgo in my lawn equipment, and it is always cheaper than everyone else in my area.
