a tank of regular isn't going to do anything......the ECU will retard timing to prevent any knock......now make a habit of feeding the S regular and it'll complain

guys, for those of you who've never ventured to the east coast... NY and NJ don't ALLOW you to pump your gas. it's ALL full-serve.

or do my days of drug-addled touring with a band betray my memory?

anyway... drive easy for this tank, you'll be fine.

Taken from the owner's manual:
"If you are unable to find premium unleaded gasoline, you may substitute an unleaded regular gasoline. The engine will compensate for the lower octane, but you may notice a slight decrease in power as a result."

Just drive easy during this tank and wait until its almost completely empty to fill-up. No harm will be done. Complain to the gas station manager though, you might be able to get a free tank of premium out of the deal.

If you are allowed to in your state you should have used a self-serve.

But since this has happened and if you don't want to "chance it" or "go easy" for this tank of gas, just drain the tank.

It shouldn't be hard. Go to the store and get a hand pump.....or do it the old fashioned way and cut a garden hose and suck like a high dollar whore.
LOL

just try not to swallow the gas, regular isn't good for you either.

just my .02

you guys are being obsessive...draining the tank....comon' there are people who drive cars designed for premium using regular all the time and have no problems. As long as you avoid full throttle acceleration and high RPMs there is NO CHANCE of anythign going wrong; even if the knock sensor were to fail, as long as your not going WOT you wont get knock.

No kidding! The car is a lot "smarter" than any of you give it credit for. Just drive the damn thing. If you are truly fixated on this (and I'm not even going to call it a "problem"), throw in a bottle of octane boost (104 will do) and just go about your normal business.
Adding race gas? Just how much can you add to a recently filled tank that it would make any difference anyway?
Run it till it's near empty? Fuel up when it gets down a 1/4 tank? Come on, what's it gonna be? Good Golly Miss Molly. Just drive the thing.

I think your car will be fine man just take it easy. If you're paranoid just add some octane booster to calm your fears.

I always use premium in my car. But I often wonder, do gas stations "really" give us what we pay for??? Who's to say that if a tanker hauling a load of "regular 87 octane" pulls into the station and fills the "regular" tank and the station owner knows the "premium 93" tank is low but not empty...will they top it off with the remaining contents of the tanker? Who would know??? Are there "octane police" running around checking?

Perhaps many of us, not realizing of course, are really using below premium gas and the ECU is just compensating? I can honestly say that when I go to certain "chain" gas stations and use their premium, I can tell a difference in the way my car performs.

I can't imagine, especially with gas prices so high, that gas stations wouldn't try and make subsitutions to keep their costs down.

drive a little bit..slowly....and then add some race gas or 93-94 octane little by little...untill you can get alot of higher octane gas in there...you should be fine...just dont get on it at all
