I have an '03 with 4.57 gears (effective 4.41, with the tire diameter I'm using in the rear) and an '04 transmission and average 23-24 mpg (city) with moderate vtec and redline use (4-12 WOT redline runs in a 25 minute commute). I can improve that to 26-28 mpg if I quickly run through the gears and lug it around 45-65 mph during my route to and from work (run from 2700 rpm to 4000 rpm per gear until I'm in sixth gear - no vtec). I don't see anything better than 29.5 mpg on the highway with my gearset (can't break back into the 30 mpg club with my setup). My city mileage is actually better with my current gearset combo - perhaps it's because I can run through the gears more quickly, I don't know. I have my speedo callibrated (via GPS) using the yellow box. I did loose about 2-4 mpg on the highway on long road trips though. However, those are few and far between.
The worst mileage I've ever seen in nearly 40,000 miles is 17 mpg - and that was absolutely flogging the dogs (the second phase of break-in). The best mileage I've seen was 33.5 mpg on the highway: @ no more than 72 mph with the cruise set. That was before the gearset change, when the car was relatively stock [with the exception of Comptech intake and exhaust (and other components that would have no effect on mileage)].
When I fill up on level ground, I'll get to about 36-39 miles before my tank comes off full (the first bar on the gauge). I don't watch it much after that - I just fill up when my tank gets around 1/4 to 1/3 left - or so.

I use Redline SI-1 with every tankful and only use Shell, BP, or Chevron (when I can find a station). Chevron is without a doubt my #1 choice for gas.

I believe all commercially available gas has up to 10% alcohol by content. A new Federal Law passed either last FY or the year prior allowed companies to add up to 10% alcohol content to their fuels without having to label it as such. I am not a big fan of alcohol for normal street use.
