Default Gas mileage INCREASED with aftermarket gears

I'm now on my 5th tank of gas since I got my new 4.57 gears.

thus far my average MPG has been higher than when I had the stock gears. Stock I averaged about 23.21 miles per gallon. So far with the new gears, even with running at the 1/4 mile track, I'm averaging 25.49 miles per gallon.

Just an interesting observation.

i'm averaging 26 miles/gallon with my stock gears.

i'd imagine the gas mileage would be better with aftermarket gears since the engine won't work as hard to get the car up to speed.

thinking about getting the 4.5 gear.....

normal. some gear whine. but nothing louder than my invidia exhaust for the most part. it's also only in certain mph ranges.

how did you do in the 1/4 with the 4.57's? did you ever run with stock gears to get a comparison of how much YOU as a driver increased?

Are you sure your getting better mileage, and not just more miles on your odometer?

Technically, as said before, the motor does not have to work as hard to accelerate the car as it did before, thus meaning you won't have to press the gas pedal down as far to get the same result. This makes more difference in city driving and I would assume your highway mileage is going to decrease from before at similar speeds.

At 80mph I'm at about 4900rpm. But I rarely go that fast. 75 at most. 4500rpm.

my odometer is reading correctly. the mileage is not off. i have the yellow box which fixes both speedo and odometer.

I only got a 13.8 at the 1/4 mile. However, compare my 60' times and trap speed.

My previous runs stock at 13.8 were 2.07 60' time and 100mph trap.

My new gears provided 13.8 with 2.22 60' time and 102mph trap.

So once I bring that 60' down. hehe.

in fact, I had one run where I had about a 2.18 60' time but I messed up and grinded 2nd gear, but STILL ran a 13.8! lol. I imagine that'd be a 13.5 had i not missed 2nd.
