My experience, in 8500 miles, with all fuel and mileage logged at each fill up shows a low of 17.9 mpg, and a high of 28.5 mpg. I seriously doubt 37.5 mpg is possible. How about 37.5 km/gallon? I'll buy that math.

The "best" fuel mileage will be had with non-stop cruising in high gear, few gear changes and net elevation changes of zero or negative. My best was a 300 mile highway run with a net drop in elevation of about 2000 ft. Mileage on this run, when the car was totally stock, was 39.9 miles per CANADIAN gallon. This would convert to about 35.1 miles per US gallon.
Now, I know that my engine was running a rich at the time as most S2000s do, however, it is entirely possible that some S2000's can run much less rich right out of the box. Therefore, I think that the mpg as stated by the OP is "possible". We've even had a report here from a European owner getting into the mid-40s mpg (converted to CAN. gallon - same as Imperial gallon).
I would not dismiss this claim outright.

Maybe there were more descents than ascents giving him better gas mileage than normal? Dunno. The best I've ever gotten was in the 29-30mpg range during highway cruise. Just today I went 170 miles and my gas gauge is right on half of a tank. Lets assume a half tank showing on the gauge is about 6-ish gallons. That's about 28mpg (or maybe a bit more). I was using the cruise control and maintaining 70mph. Driving to work and back, which is basically 6 miles round trip on a military base with speed limits of 30mph (no VTECing ), I manage about 21mpg.

"Speeds generally below 45 mph, some VTEC, but not all the time. Lots of wide open throttle at 3500-4500 rpm. Two on board."

That condition does not sound like it would yield even closest to the maximum MPG possible. Lots of wide open throttle regardless of RPM = not such great gas mileage. Usually below 45 mph, some VTEC coupled to another passenger on board doesnt sound too promising in terms of mpg.

I spent the last two Saturday's having fun in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and SC. Both trips were loops of about 175 miles, with lots of twisties, about four ascents/descents of about 3500 feet. Speeds generally below 45 mph, some VTEC, but not all the time. Lots of wide open throttle at 3500-4500 rpm. Two on board.

I filled up at the start, then refilled (and even topped off) at the end. Both times, I calculated about 37.5 mpg. Last weekend I thought this was "too good to be true," then the same thing this weekend. This is great!

What's your expereience?
wanna trade cars? i drive like an old lady sometimes and only get 27 or 28. granted i don't go 45mph in 6th but damn i can't see how that's possible.

Last tank was 27 MPG; no tank below 25 MPG. Guess I'm not VTECing enough.
