Default Gas Mileage

I went to the Bay Area this weekend and filled up before and after. I got 30.5 miles mpg- mostly on the freeway. I don't know if this is the norm so I am asking if you guys get this mileage or better? I'm happy with it particularly since there was a lot of slow downs on the way and back. Normally I have a lot less mpg because of the in town stop and go. Since I went out of town, I decided to check out the mileage on the highway.
later,

Yeah, I think that's damn good.
I normally get an average of 23-24, with in town (not downtown) driving mixed with a little highway. I've never checked just the highway though.
Good looking car, Mark! Similar to mine!

There was a milage thread a few weeks back. Try searching for it. Your MPG was very good.

Dantheman, on the highway I get about 27 mpg going 80 so revs at about 4k for hours. I don't know what to tell you about your 18mpg except that no matter what you do, driving through town and stop and go and idling will reduce your mpg. give us some info on how you drive. maybe someone could offer some help then.

If you short shifted through all the gears and shifted to 6th gear at about 45-50 mph, then slowly climbed to about 65-70 mph and maintained this speed on straight, flat open highway, you to will get good fuel milage like hensonbear.

I'm all about the canyons, so I don't give a hoot nor a holler bout fuel milage in my S2k. I didn't buy my S2000 with intentions of driving conservatively

bogging ur engine by shifting TOO early consumes more gas then shifting at a good point, shift into 6th to early making the engine bog at like 1-2k makes it so u have to give more throttle even with the lower rpm. best to shift smoothly and keep the car in its power band, (not the 7-8k band) but not bogging. and this "should" result in optimal mileage.

hills and stop and go KILL mileage, drive like a granny and that will help to

In your S2K manual Honda lists the best shift points for everyday driving. Read it, do it, and you will get better MPG. However, it won't be too much fun.

30.5 is amazing. I've only gotten 30 once on all highway driving. Typical for me is 24.5.
