Default Gas Mileage @ 15m/gallon. What gives?

I can only get about 150-160 tops out of a tank of gas, until it lights up. I only do city driving but dang that's pretty bad mileage. My Bimmer gave more miles to a gallon and it was a 4-door 2.8L v6. Is it my driving style or something wrong with my car? My car is completely stock.

How many miles on the car? Give it a few thousand to loosen up... you'll be amazed at the difference.

My WRX was getting between 16-19mpg for the first few thousand miles. Now I get around 19-26 depending on city/highway.

SlickyV, you didn't say how hard you drive. When I bought my '03, I got about 23-24 MPG combined driving and now somewhere between 25-26 at 16,000+ miles. I don't drive it hard which helps keep the MPG up and use Mobil1 oil.

New or used? How many miles? Checked the air filter lately? Air temperature?

My mileage may drop below 20mpg during the winter (temps 0 to 30ish) with mostly highway driving to/from work (~9 miles) since the mixture remains rich longer and the engine barely gets to temperature.

On a recent trip to see my father I averaged 28 mpg and that was mostly spirted driving thru hilly terrain. I only used my cruise control for about 1 hr out of a 4 1/2 round trip

He lives in Hawaii, it is always city driving or stuck in traffic. I remember sitting on H1 for hours, so you're mileage may not improve very much.

Well, I don't drive it hard all. I vtec maybe once every other day, and shift at about 4500 rpm or so. Oh well, hopefully when it breaks in more. I only have 1.5k miles on it right now. I only put 5-6k on my cars per year.
