So I went to go fix my windshield today because of a small chip that occurred on the highway.

After the work was finished I went in the auto glass shop to pay for the work. As he was writing a receipt I noticed that he already wrote in the "MAKE" section, "BMW". When he asked what kind of car it was I told him it was a Honda S2000 and he proceeded to say "A 2000 what?"

I laughed to myself and had to repeat that it was a 2004 Honda s2000 at least three times before he understood me.

^^ Yep. I've gotten that before.

I have taken to saying, "It's a 2007 Honda. (pause while they write it down and it sinks in) The model is an S2000."

Even then, sometimes they don't get it.

This reminds me of a story when I was a bagger at a grocery store in high school.

I did a propane exchange for a women and I carry the propane to her car, it's a newer S2000 (AP2) with flat black volks. The trunk was also dynomatted with soundeading material.

Me: Oh wow, nice car. Is this an AP2?

Her: Oh no, it's an S2000.

Needless to say, I still bought one after I graduated. I see her and her husband around town a lot. She waves, and he flashes his high beams.

I do the same thing. Understandably, saying "it's a 2000 Honda s2000" is confusing.

Last night I was driving home with the top down, and two girls in a MK4 Jetta pulled up beside me at a light. When it turned green, I got started and did a shift at 5k (still getting used to the geearing compared to my DC5), then noticed the girls were trying to keep up and shot passed me like we were racing, after i put it in cruise-mode. I would have returned the favor, but i saw a cop at the intersection not too far away and didn't wanna risk it.

We met back up at the next light, and we looked at each other and smiled.

I've only owned this car four days and I'm already loving the attention i get from it. Luckily, the fiance wasn't there for that one though,

I have explained to a few people that Honda, in the 1960 built it's first Sports car with a 600cc motor, & called it the S600.

They then built their second sports car, with an 800CC motor & obviously called it the S800.

What else could they call their next sports car, with it's 2000CC motor, but the S2000?

About this time the penny drops with all but the really dumb ones, that the name means 2000CC Sports car.

But why are the AP2s not called S2200?

Because only the North American market got the F22C1. In 2006 the Japanese market got the F22C1 as well.
