had my s2000 parked top down in the street today after getting home from work to finish up some yard work. while working in the yard one of my neighbors comes by - lady in her early 50's - saying "WOW whats next? a maserati?"

Guy -"I'll trade you my Porsche Boxster S for your S2000 and cash on top(his side)." I was like HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL no!!
Girl- "Is that a Miata?" HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!!
Stranger - "What kind of car is that?"
Kid - "Mommy mommy, I want thaaaaaat car!" *smiles* *kid still twist neck to stare at s2000*

Friend - "I miss driving my s2000, I'm going to get rid of my 91 NSX(boring) and get another s2000."
Driver in 2002 C32 AMG Sedan(350hp supercharged) - "Dude your car is pretty fast! You have a turbo or supercharger? You matched perfectly with me!" Me: "No, it's just stock 240hp 4 cylinder."
Friend in his GTR - "I miss driving my S, shouldn't of sold it!"

After upgrading from a rusting, faded red 1989 Mk1 MR2 to a shiny 2005 RNBP S2K, neighbours commented "Is that what you replaced that red thing with?" : "Yep" : "They're paying you too much aren't they?!"... and his boring Vectra probably cost the same.
After telling a friend (who's female and doesn't even have a licence) what sort of car it was, "Can we go and see your T-1000?"

I had a little girl (maybe 10 or so) ask me if my S2000 was a hybrid. It has a header, hi-flow cat, and Greddy Ti-C single exit exhaust (read: loud). I couldn't help but bust out laughing

i dont actually own an s2k yet, but i work at a valet and we get them every now and again. we had one a couple weeks back, silver ap2 bone stock i believe, the overwhelming thing i heard from folks was that "man that thing is really slow." heard this from 3 or 4 of my coworkers. i know the s2k isnt a really fast car, but its a hell of a lot faster than what these guys drive so i decided to ask a very simple question: "how high did you rev it?" universally the reply was "to about 4 or 5k" most of them did not seem to understand that they still had about 3-4k rpms to go and that they hadnt even touched vtech. honestly im glad they didnt, since s2ks are loud and i wouldnt want the customer thinking we were thrashing his car (granted our garage is about half a block from where people come in so not much opportunity to drive fast anyway). but i thought it was really funny when this Hispanic kid i work with said "my car is a ton faster than that thing" his car... a base model dodge caliber on 24" wheels.
these guys also said the corvette grand sport wasnt any faster than a regular corvette. when i told them it was because it had better suspension they said "yeah but that doesnt make it any faster." i guess they never heard of a corner.

My mom drives an '01 Boxster S. I have a feeling this is gonna start happening to me a lot, living in a small town: family friend saw me pull into work today. As I'm walking up to my building she says, "if you wreck your mom's car she'll kick your butt." I of course explained to her that it is my car and it's not a Porsche.
