That's pretty awesome. I hope he let you take his shelby out for a spin, I would never let anyone random drive my car. To date, only my wife and brother have even driven it.

Second day of owning the S, pulled up at traffic lights onto a roundabount, a guy in a white van rolls down the window beside me.

Him: "I can't believe they don't make them anymore."
Me: "I know, it's a shame isn't it?"
Him: "I really think this is the best convertible sports car you can buy, not an MX-5, not anything else."
Me: "Y'know what, I totally agree."
Him: "And the styling is just..."
Me: "Yeah, it's a timeless classic isn't it?"
Him: "Yeah. I won't try to race ya."

somehow my friend and i got into talking about our cruising speeds on the freeway and...

him: yeah i'm at 2500rpms going 70ish ('10 vw golf)
me: ah, i'm at 4000rpms going 75
him: whaaaaaa? dude that's crazy
me: normal to me
him: i would lengthen the last 2 gears so that it's at 2500 rpms a 70
me: why? that would be a waste of money
him: to get better fuel efficiency, or at least get a overdrive gear
me: if i really wanted to to care about fuel efficiency, i would've gotten something else
him: that's what it's all about for me!
me: hence, why you drive a golf

I was getting in my car at lunch, was alone and some guy asked me if that's my s2000. I was puzzled, its like Im the only one around, I clearly unlocked the car with remote and started getting in. He did compliment the car after.

Some dude in a delivery truck scared the shit out of me the other day..

"Nice car", he yells towards me while sitting at the red light.

I look around, like who the hell said that.. he is leaning out of his truck smiling asking if its for sale. I smile and just say of course for the right price...!!


He says enjoy as I drive away.. Cool dude.

I enjoy some of the attention this car gets. I understand it's no Ferrari but it does have some presence to it and catches people's eye once in a while.. It's a good feeling.

I see all the regular comments on here that I have heard, miata, del sol, cute car, chick car blah blah but the other night I made a stop in West Palm and a guy yelled out "it's the car from the Monopoly game!"........ really, isn't that like a old school roadster in that game? He was also drunk

I parked my S with the top down (glove box locked) - my interior is spotless at all times, right out front Panera Bread for lunch, locked the car and as I walked away I heard a very eldery couple (the wife) go, "oh honey, you see that young man get out of that bright yellow sports car?" The husband goes, "yes yes I do, that is a sharp car" The wife goes, "Well he left his top down.. should we tell him??" The husband goes "No dear, he must like the top down." I then turned around and kind of smiled a bit as I tried not to laugh, and I made eye contact with the husband and he just winked at me.

We ended up having lunch together. Turns out, his nephew owns a 2001 s2000 (silver) and resides about 30-45 minutes north of me.
