Funny things people have said about your s2000

If people want to laugh and point and say "midlife crisis" so be it. They can hop back in their Whatever brand boring arse people carrier, go home and talk about all the money they are saving so they can live it up when they are in their 60's ... I will be out autocrossing, road tripping with my beautiful wife with the top down and having a blast It's only a "crisis" if you let it screw up your life and cause you to make dumb decisions.

Lol. I tell people, if mazda made a male version of the miata, then it would be the s2000
I do, however, respect the miata..... But its still fun to poke fun

They are pretty frickin quick litte cars through the turns. I have instructed a couple of people in boosted ones, and those are a complete blast
If they just looked a bit more aggressive, rather than a car from the movie Cars, I would like them more I have seen a few that looked pretty nice though I will admit, but still not enough to buy one unless I was buying it for nothing other than autox car. Same for the old late 80's si hatches. Anyone that autocrosses one is amazed at how much grip there is and how well the suspension works (not to mention the low weight), and they can put a hurting on most cars through an auotx course if driven well ... but beyond that .. they are a honda civic hatch! And if you have one set up to be really competitive they are much less street friendly than the S2k is in STR setup.

Had my '07 NFR AP2 for just over a week - sold my VW CC and never looked back! Have had two encounters:
1) The day I drove it back from the dealer, at a redlight in middle lane, I saw a white S2000 pull up very slowly to the right lane. We both had our tops down - and it was a female. We were both first at the redlight. Needless to say, we bantered for the remainder of the redlight. Turns out she was taking photos with her phone as she was pulling up. Light turns green, I allow her to gun it - and she keeps taking photos for a couple blocks before turning.
Such an amazing experience within the first 2hrs of owning my car!
2) Yesterday, although not my DD, I decided to drive it to work - behind a 50ish lady in our own community in a 2000s Miata (not the latest gen) with top down, with a leadfoot. At a stoplight, she smiled and talked about owning BMWs and Mercedes and how our cars were much more fun. She assumed I was also driving a Miata, and proceeded to ask me what year it was. I played along and said "2007". She later got stuck behind an SUV as I pulled forward - I don't know if she saw my Honda badge in the rear.
I've driven several mx-5s from the 90s and they are amazingly fun. But yeah it kind of irks me when there is Miata-confusion. Miatas are a mass-produced dime-a-dozen roadsters, whereas an S2000 is just special.
Sad to admit, but I've wanted a S2000 ever since the age of 16 when the first F&F movie came out. Been lurking here and there on S2ki ever since the forums opened, much moreso in the past few months leading up to my purchase.
They've always been rare on the street, even in central OC - so much so that I've pulled out my camera every time I've seen one. Even with the entrenched car culture in my area, most middle aged people know nothing about the S2k, or of Honda's sportier past.

I have gotten "that can't be your car you would never fit in it!" I can occasionally be sarcastic in general but I try to be polite and just smile show them the key and get in the car. I feel like saying "yes I paid 30k for a car hoping that I could fit in it, it NEVER CROSSED MY MIND to drive one before I laid down my$$ but I never have always remain polite.
