My favorite story is from my fiancee. I left her sitting in my S with the top down outside the post office, while I ran in to buy some stamps. While I was gone, a middle aged gentleman in a minivan offered to straight trade his van for my S, kids included.

Actually, the other way around. The Acura TSX is the Euro Accord rebadged. Not a particularly new design either as I recall but a nice car none the less.

I have a colleague who has a Z4 that he bought last year. When I bought my 05 S2K, he immediately began speaking disparagingly about the S2K, his was faster, more reliable, etc. I didn't argue with him, because we all know what happens when you argue with an idiot.

However, I pulled up the specs for his Z4, and our S2K, then I showed him the Consumer Reports ratings for our car and his (CR crapped all over the Z4) and the C&D report that compared roadsters. (See the link below - Z4's were rated 4th, S2Ks, 1st).

It got pretty quiet in the office after he read the info, so I said, "Well, don't feel too badly, you did pay 15,000 more for your car, so you have that going for you!!". He hasn't brought the subject up again...I wonder why?
Umm....not sure what your collegue has to feel bad about. In the same link you listed, it says:

"That said, the record shows that the Z4 makes bigger numbers on the test track than any of the others, if only by a shade. The 5.3-second 0-to-60 squeaked ahead of the Honda by 0.1 second and out front of the Nissan by twice that. The quarter-mile blurs past in 14 seconds flat, again 0.1 second ahead of the Honda, and this time, 0.3 up on the 350Z. All three clock an identical 99 mph in the distance. The BMW leads in top speed at 152 mph, with the Nissan and Porsche close behind at 148. The governed Audi hangs back at 125 mph.

Same story on the skidpad, where the BMW and the Honda tie at 0.92 g, a mere 0.01 behind the Porsche and 0.04 ahead of the Nissan."

I just say "it's Honda's sports car." If they continue to ask, then I give them the name.

I suspect he felt bad because as the ranking of the article noted:

Fourth Place
BMW Z4 3.0 (at around $45,000)

First Place
Honda S2000 (at around $31,000)

Also, as previously mentioned, Consumer Reports 2005 buying guide gives the S2K high marks across the board, and generally gives the BMW Z4 low marks for a variety of things.

Although, as you noted, the Z4 is a .01 sec quicker...I guess I'm just not willing to pay 15k for a .01 second, in a car that is assesed to be less than reliable.....but that's just me! Call me crazy!!! :-)

On our way to the Spring Fling '05 meet, six of us took a side trip into Gettysburg. We stopped a number of times to get out of the cars and look at the monuments up close. Needless to say, some kids on school trips were more impressed with our collection of cars than they were with Gettysburg.

At one monument a man in his twenties or early thirtys volunteered to take group photos of us using our cameras. After the photos he noticed that some of the cars had Rick's "S" badges and some had the original Honda "H". "What's the difference?", he asked. One of our group said that they were different versions of the car, another suggested that the S badges were really only something that we picked up in Wal-mat, and someone suggested that the cars were really only dressed up Civics.

We all, including our new friend, had a good laugh when we explained the real differences in the badges to him. We waved and all drove away happy.
