Not too funny, but I have been asked if I wanted to trade vehicles several times while at the gas station. Usually they are pick-up drivers. I would estimate I get some favorable comment about my car while at the gas station 75% of the time and definately lots of stares. The car is not seen that often here in West Texas, I have only seen three others in town - mine being the only New Formula Red! I kinda like that.

Garbage man: "OH YEAH, BOI - WE READY TO ROLL NOW!"
("No we're not.")

While gassing up my S2000:
Random man with missing front teeth: "Nice Porsche, eh? They wouldn't let me test one at the dealership so I refused to buy it. Mind if I take yours for a quick scoot?"
("A 'scoot'? Sure! I love letting other people--especially complete strangers--test drive my car.")

Pulling into a parking lot where teen girls are holding signs that say "Free car wash":
Girl: "Hey, free car wash... come on!"
Me: "My car is spotless. I just spent almost 5 hours detailing it."
Girl: "It looks good, but we could have done it in less than 30 minutes!"
Me: "Yes, I'm sure you could have..."
Girl: "Is that a corvette?"
Me: "Yes."

Last week:

I was going to my friend's house. I parked my car. As I am walking to his house, this old lady shaking her head to rap music (go figure) says to me, "Nice Benz." Me..nah its just a honda. She had the most dumbfounded look and just said, honda???? I just continued walking.

So, it's you who's convinced the great unwashed that "'just' a Honda" is a meaningful phrase!!!



As I recall, it was "just" a Honda that dominated Formula 1 during the Senna years. It's just a Honda that's going to dominate IRL... And the new Rune motorcycle is "just" a Honda... Honestly, I'll never get that business. But it's this kind of thinking that gave birth to Acura in the first place. All I can say is, thank god it's a Honda.

S2k here in UAE is a very very rare car.. and most ppl dont even know abt it.... Once this guy asks me... Is this a Civic Sports Car with v6. Another one was so common here.. Oh is dat a new CRX(Del Sol). hehe
